ombudsman and new parents
Working with Bounty – the organisation that coordinates the distribution of packs of information and trial products for parents with a new baby – the Financial Ombudsman Service has launched an awareness campaign targeting younger families.
Focusing on a time of significant life-change, when families might typically face financial challenges and difficulties, the campaign reminds parents with babies and younger children about their right as consumers to use the independent free ombudsman service – in the event of a dispute with a bank, insurance company or finance firm.
The ombudsman's awareness campaign involves an advert in Jump [opens in PDF format] – the parenting magazine that is included as part of the Bounty packs distributed nationwide to around 700,000 new parents.
This initiative is part of the ombudsman service's commitment to outreach work with specific groups of consumers, whose awareness and usage of the ombudsman is disproportionately lower than in other sectors of the community.
